Our Christmas 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas. After the 4:00 Christmas Eve mass at church, we spent Christmas Eve with my family and had Spring Creek BBQ for the adults and pizza for the kids and there were plenty of desserts to go around. mmm! After everyone ate we opened presents and visited for a while and got home around 8:30. We put the children to bed and watched a movie "Wanted" and after the movie was over we put the children's presents under the tree with their stocking in front so everyone could tell who's pile was who's and then dh' & I got to bed around midnight. The kids woke us up at 6:30 to say that Santa had come. We were soooo tired but, we got up and went to see and Santa was good to everyone. The kids played with their toys for a while before heading over to Howard's folks'.

We went to Howard's mom and dad's house to spend the day with his family and there we had Turkey with all the sides and again...plenty of desserts. hehe! Mom makes homemade Christmas cookies that are to die for and I try to make but, mine never turn out quite as good. After lunch some of the folks took naps and boy do they know how to saw some logs. LOL! It was like a symphony of snores. LOL! We opened presents around 5:00 and had some leftovers for dinner. We watched a little bit of Home Alone and had some wonderful eggnog that dad makes. mmm! Then we got our stuff together and we were home by 9:30.

I got Mama Mia and we have been watching it over and over again. The girls love it!

Saturday I took back a couple of duplicates and got some batteries with the difference. For dinner I tried out a new recipe...Easy Cheesy Spaghetti Bake and the kids ate it all. It's a miracle! Then we all watched "Nancy Drew" from blockbuster. It was cute!

Christmas Shopping....Done!

I have been putting off Christmas shopping until the last minute. I finally went Saturday and finished up Sunday. Everything is wropped or hidden and all is good. It was a little stressful there for a while but, it's done! Yay! What a relief!

Other news:

My friend Laurel & I are room moms for Hayley's class (my oldest) and we went all out with Little Ceaser's Pizza, chocolate covered cherry cake balls, popcorn jumbles made with vanilla almond bark and sprinkles, and cookies for decorating. We also gave the teacher (Ms. Pick) a gift from the kids (a pretty picture frame from Kirklands and a snowman candy jar from us.) She really liked her stuff.

Hayley and I had strep and we are now on the mend. Now, the rest of the family is coming down with it. Yuck. I called in a perscription for everyone so we can all get well before Christmas.

Today I took Hayley and Nicholas to a playdate this morning and the kids opened presents and played and ate and drank hot chocolate with marshmellows. They had fun.

Tonight I am going to an ornament exchange with the Rockin' Rockwall Moms group. We are going to Napoli's in Rockwall. Wee!

OH! I started a cooking blog if you want to check it out! I'm just getting started so bare with me! Enjoy! www.mykitchenfairy.blogspot.com

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We went to dh's parents house around 3:00 and ate around 4:00 and watched some football and ate pumpkin pie and double chocolate cake balls for dessert. It was really nice to see and chat with everyone. The kids had fun playing with all of their cousins.

I got up at 3:45 to go Black Friday shopping with a few friends. We met at Walmart at 4:30 and it was crazy! Everything shrink wrapped and when the big horn blew everyone started grabbing things and pushing and I saw boxes flying over head. Crazy, I tell ya! I got a few things. I'm a little claustraphobic. Eeek! It was fun to get up and be with friends though. I just didn't like getting hit in the butt with the shopping carts 500 times. Sheesh! I guess that's to be expected though. hehe!

Saturday I went out with my friend Laurel and saw Four Christmases. It was funny! Later, we went to eat at On The Border and then did a little shopping at Kirklands. I love that store!

Sunday dh put the Christmas lights on the house and in the bushes. We haven't decorated the inside yet. We are waiting for next weekend. I tried out a new recipe for Chicken Tortilla Soup and it was pretty good! I've never had it before so, I didn't have anything to compare it to but, not bad!

A Nice Day...

I had a really nice day today. My friend Laurel picked me up for lunch and we went to the Olive Garden and then to Big Lots for a little shopping. I bought 4 huge candy canes for pictues. She suggested going to The Harbor and having our Christmas pictures taken in front of the big water fountain so we just may do that! I just hope it's not crowded. We plan to go one day this week after school. Wish me luck that they turn out! hehe!

Nicholas & My Birthday

Nicholas and I and everyone else said our happy birthdays to each other and got ready for school.

I went and had coffee with a couple of mommies and one of them bought my coffee. Thanks Amy!

Dh took off work for my birthday and took me out to lunch at Chick-fi-la. He also made me an angel food cake with cream cheese frosting and strawberries!

We went to my moms to pick up a couple of craft tables for a craft fair I'm having with the Rockin' Rockwall Moms group.

I painted a few more picture frames and have a some more clipboards I need to make.

We ordered pizza for Nicholas' birthday dinner.

Halloween 2008

We went to our friends David and Joedi's house in Waterview this year for a pre-tricker treating celebration and snacks. The kids had fun playing volleyball and jumping on the the trampoline and just running around. We headed out for trick or treating around 7:30 and walked around the block and it was a big block and got back to their house around 8:30. We stayed and visited for a few minutes and then headed back to our house. When we got back to our house the kids dumped their candy on the table and then I put it in a big container. They can have one piece a day until it's gone. LOL! It doesn't seem like they got as much as last year but that's just fine with me.

Saturday we walked with the "Light The Night" fundraiser in association with the Luekemia and Lymphoma Society to raise money for my nephew Philip. It so much fun to come together to support him and his family through this. We walked 2 miles with our illuminated red balloons and red t-shirts. It was so great. They had face painting, hoola hoops, a big playground, free hotdogs, popcorn, soft drinks and water and all kids of festivities!

Today my friend Karen came over after church. We went to the grocery store and then we watched Made of Honor together and ate lunch and let the kids play. It was fun!

Later I had to take Madison to a family class at 4:00 at church. She is going to recieve her first communion this May. We went to the different stations of the church and the kids asked questions about the the different parts of the church and what everything means and then we came home. Daddy had chicken fajitas waiting for us. OH Boy! Yum!

I've also been getting ready for Nicholas' 6th birthday party. It's going to be on Sunday, November 9th at 4:30. Hayley has 2 games and couldn't do it any earlier. He wants to go with the Power Rangers theme this year. I think I'm going to buy a cake from Walmart instead of making one. That's right, I'm lazy!

Dawn & Fire Don't Mix

My Kountry Kikker dance group had a Christmas party and there was a candle lit and everyone was opening their presents and I got tissue paper in the flame and it caught fire and went up fast. Everyone was jumping around trying to stomp it out. We got it out. Shoo!

There was the incident at my house for movie night where the flames were leaping out of my candle and it got so hot the top came off and candle wax got all over the sink.

The ice maker isn't working so I reached under it to see if I could get it to work and it burnt the side of my hand.

Last night I made the kids lunches and put them in the refigerator and Nicholas' lunch handle got burnt because it was up against the light bulb and the door wasn't shut all the way.

So people!....Could you please keep me away from open flames? I'd really appreciate it. LOL!

You're Giving Me A Headache

I was singing "Rain, Rain, Go Away Come Again Another Day, Little Jake Wants To Play, Rain, Rain Go Away" in the car on the way home from MDO because we saw sprinkles. Jake said "don't sing that!" and I said "Why?" and he said "because you are giving me a headache!". Gee...Thanks son. Tell me how ya really feel. LOL! I know I'm not going to win a "Grammy" but, I didn't think it sounded that bad! hehe!

We Went To The Pumpkin Patch!

We went to look around at the little pumpkin patch in Rockwall. The kids had fun playing in the maze they had and seeing all the different kinds of pumpkins. We didn't buy any pumpkins. It was more of a photo op. hehe!

Rockin' Rockwall Moms

Hey Everyone!

I know it's been forever since my last blog post. Sorry about that! I've been really busy with the Rockin' Rockwall Moms group with playdates, mno/mni's/mdo's, etc...I just love these ladies. We are working on putting together a craft fair and we are going to have it at one of the member's home. I will post details when we have it all planned out. We are accepting new members at this time if you are interested. It's for the Rockwall area including the surrounding areas. I would love for you to join! Just say Dawn reffered me. http://sahm.meetup.com/2822/
I'm miss seeing all my DFW Area Mommies. We need to plan a playdate or something!

I just have Jake on Fridays now and it's been great! Next year will be awesome because they will all be in the same school for one year and then Hayley goes to Middle school the next year. My babies are growing up so fast. I'm sad and happy all at the same time.

We keep busy with soccer. If it's not soccer practice, it's soccer games. That takes up most of our week nights and weekends but, it's fun and the kids enjoy it. It's also really great exercise!

I started a new blog for buisness: http://kountryboutique.blogspot.com/

Let me know if you are interested. I'm still working on a few more things to put on there.

Our "Camping" Trip

We went camping last weekend at Cooper Lake in Sulpher Springs Tx with dh's family. It was so much fun! This was our very first vacation as a family unit. We went swimming, hiking, on a nature trail, and cooked out over an open fire and made smores! YUM! There was a raccoon that came really close to us but he ran off before I could get a picture. He wanted some of those smores too! LOL! Our cabin had the air cranked down ot a nice antartic freeze. Just the way I like it. hehe! The kids thought grandma was their good luck charm because every time she came by them to help them they caught a fish! We have already decided we want to do this again next year only somewhere different to check out different locations.
