Our Christmas 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas. After the 4:00 Christmas Eve mass at church, we spent Christmas Eve with my family and had Spring Creek BBQ for the adults and pizza for the kids and there were plenty of desserts to go around. mmm! After everyone ate we opened presents and visited for a while and got home around 8:30. We put the children to bed and watched a movie "Wanted" and after the movie was over we put the children's presents under the tree with their stocking in front so everyone could tell who's pile was who's and then dh' & I got to bed around midnight. The kids woke us up at 6:30 to say that Santa had come. We were soooo tired but, we got up and went to see and Santa was good to everyone. The kids played with their toys for a while before heading over to Howard's folks'.

We went to Howard's mom and dad's house to spend the day with his family and there we had Turkey with all the sides and again...plenty of desserts. hehe! Mom makes homemade Christmas cookies that are to die for and I try to make but, mine never turn out quite as good. After lunch some of the folks took naps and boy do they know how to saw some logs. LOL! It was like a symphony of snores. LOL! We opened presents around 5:00 and had some leftovers for dinner. We watched a little bit of Home Alone and had some wonderful eggnog that dad makes. mmm! Then we got our stuff together and we were home by 9:30.

I got Mama Mia and we have been watching it over and over again. The girls love it!

Saturday I took back a couple of duplicates and got some batteries with the difference. For dinner I tried out a new recipe...Easy Cheesy Spaghetti Bake and the kids ate it all. It's a miracle! Then we all watched "Nancy Drew" from blockbuster. It was cute!

Christmas Shopping....Done!

I have been putting off Christmas shopping until the last minute. I finally went Saturday and finished up Sunday. Everything is wropped or hidden and all is good. It was a little stressful there for a while but, it's done! Yay! What a relief!

Other news:

My friend Laurel & I are room moms for Hayley's class (my oldest) and we went all out with Little Ceaser's Pizza, chocolate covered cherry cake balls, popcorn jumbles made with vanilla almond bark and sprinkles, and cookies for decorating. We also gave the teacher (Ms. Pick) a gift from the kids (a pretty picture frame from Kirklands and a snowman candy jar from us.) She really liked her stuff.

Hayley and I had strep and we are now on the mend. Now, the rest of the family is coming down with it. Yuck. I called in a perscription for everyone so we can all get well before Christmas.

Today I took Hayley and Nicholas to a playdate this morning and the kids opened presents and played and ate and drank hot chocolate with marshmellows. They had fun.

Tonight I am going to an ornament exchange with the Rockin' Rockwall Moms group. We are going to Napoli's in Rockwall. Wee!

OH! I started a cooking blog if you want to check it out! I'm just getting started so bare with me! Enjoy! www.mykitchenfairy.blogspot.com

Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We went to dh's parents house around 3:00 and ate around 4:00 and watched some football and ate pumpkin pie and double chocolate cake balls for dessert. It was really nice to see and chat with everyone. The kids had fun playing with all of their cousins.

I got up at 3:45 to go Black Friday shopping with a few friends. We met at Walmart at 4:30 and it was crazy! Everything shrink wrapped and when the big horn blew everyone started grabbing things and pushing and I saw boxes flying over head. Crazy, I tell ya! I got a few things. I'm a little claustraphobic. Eeek! It was fun to get up and be with friends though. I just didn't like getting hit in the butt with the shopping carts 500 times. Sheesh! I guess that's to be expected though. hehe!

Saturday I went out with my friend Laurel and saw Four Christmases. It was funny! Later, we went to eat at On The Border and then did a little shopping at Kirklands. I love that store!

Sunday dh put the Christmas lights on the house and in the bushes. We haven't decorated the inside yet. We are waiting for next weekend. I tried out a new recipe for Chicken Tortilla Soup and it was pretty good! I've never had it before so, I didn't have anything to compare it to but, not bad!
